I agree with you Barbara…Twitter can be time intensive. And we all know that time is money! At any rate, I use quite a few automation tools (so I combine personal and automated interaction with my followers). But, if you're looking for free promotion, it doesn't get much better than Twitter
I agree that Twitter can be a great way to spread the word about your business or your ideas. I work with authors and consultants who often don't want to maintain their own blogs, but write articles for other publications and sites. For these folks, Twitter is a great way to point people to their work. The downside of Twitter is that, while free in terms of cost to subscribe or participate, it can be quite labor intensive to get impact and your time is valuable too. I really appreciate all these tools that make scheduling tweets and creating tweets much more efficient otherwise it can get overwhelming.

Without question, Twitter has had the biggest impact for me. I'd say it's been the “best bang for my buck”, but it's Free!
The one change I need to focus on right now is unfollowing those who aren't following me. There's no point in having big numbers of followers just for the sake of having them show up on your Twitter page. I delete any message I get from people who tout, “Get a gazillion Twitter followers in a day!” Senseless.
I agree! No reason to follow those who aren't following you! I always laugh because the people who Tweet about “how to get a million followers a day” always have less than 50 followers. LOL
Imagine that.
